    What Tarot Card Are You?

Friday, September 28, 2007, 09:30 AM PST [General]

    You are The High Priestess

    Science, Wisdom, Knowledge, Education.

The High Priestess is the card of knowledge, instinctual, supernatural, secret knowledge. She holds scrolls of arcane information that she might, or might not reveal to you. The moon crown on her head as well as the crescent by her foot indicates her willingness to illuminate what you otherwise might not see, reveal the secrets you need to know. The High Priestess is also associated with the moon however and can also indicate change or fluxuation, particularily when it comes to your moods.

    Recap on Mabon Ritual

Monday, September 24, 2007, 10:28 PM PST [General]

Sunday, as most of you already know, was Mabon, the second harvest festival.   Thanks to a dear friend of mine who dragged me out to "one of those pagan places I like so much," I would have not have the chance to sign up for the Tacoma meet up group I now now a part of.  Love ya Meriem, you crazy Christian you!

Anyway, I did go to the Tacoma meet up group/ TERRA's (another Tacoma pagan group) official Mabon ritual.  Last year I didn't even do anything for Mabon, so I was really excited to be able to take part of this ritual with other pagans.  Angela, the owner of Crescent Moon Gifts in Tacoma, and head coordinator for the Tacoma meet up group ran the ritual.  There was chanting, guided meditation along with drumming, and other giving thanks things we did as a group.  There was so much high energy that when I left  to go home I became really exhausted.  (I dont work with large groups enough!)  Next time I'll be sure to eat something before hand to help with that.

There was also another added suprise after the ritual.  One of the couples there was celebrating their annivesery and wished to renew their handfasting vows.  It was very sweet and just increased the engery even more!

Later while we were feating, a bald eagle flew above our site, another really nice surprise.

Sometimes I wonder why, (living in Seattle and all) I commute all the way out to Tacoma when there are other local pagans in the Seattle area that I could meet up with, then I remember all of the really welcoming, friendly people whom I've met in this group and it makes the 30-60 min commute worth it.

    Bright Blessings,

    Crochet Half Moon Shawl Pattern

Thursday, September 6, 2007, 07:44 PM PST [General]

Every few weeks I get a Lion Brand email that includes free patterns.  Usually they're not that great, however this week I got a really cool shawl pattern that I'm going to whip up as soon as I can!  It's called the Half Moon Shawl, it doesnt look exactly like a half moon, but a goddess symbol can be easily sewn into the back.

A nice quick little shawl just in time for fall!

    Update on Cookies

Tuesday, September 4, 2007, 09:19 PM PST [General]

So last night I went to my partners place and I gave him the cookies (the ones I made in my last post.)  I think they went over well.  That night we talked about listening to nature and other things and that night there was a crazy lightening storm!  I think the problem lies in that he (in a respectable humbleing way) doesnt look into nature signs in his own life because he doesnt see himself as apart of the larget picture.  Does every fallen feather have meaning behind it?  Does every storm have specific meaning to your own life?  He didnt think so.  I however told him that there needs to be balance in it.  I think as of late, I've been doing the opposite of what he has been doing.  I've been looking for meaning behind every crow's caw and every cloud.  So in acuality, the spell worked for both of us!  Hopefully for him to see more meaning behind other signs in nature, see the magic everyday, and for me to not try and look into everything so deeply.  The storm was there for both of us and probably for many others in our area to teach us things that we needed to hear or just for us to enjoy.

Now just to work a spell to get him to buy me a house on the hill with a beautiful garden... haha!

    Cookies o love and faith

Monday, September 3, 2007, 06:09 PM PST [General]

As of late I've really wanted to cook something to help with my boyfriend be a bit more open in his faith.  He was the one who really got me into the craft and now it seems like he's just not into as much as he used to be.  I understand as humans we all go through stages where something that was once really important us seems less than it once was.  I've tried talking to him about how he feels about different things and it sometimes seems like I'm talking to a wall.

So I decided to cook something up that might help.  Orignially I wanted to make something to help with communication, but there arn't many communication foods (at least in Cunningham's guide) that would work well with chocolate chip cookies.  So instead I decided to add extra spiritual, wisdom and love compents into my cookies.

The receipe is common, nothing too fancy, (I got it from the package of the choclate chips!) but the additions to it make it a bit more special.

1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
    3/4 cup graulated sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    2 eggs
2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour (I actually had to add an extra 1/2 cup because it was pretty runny)
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups (12 oz.) of chocolate chips
    1 cup chopped hazlenuts
    nutmeg
    cinnamon
(last two do not have an amount because I didnt measure... woops!)

Heat oven to 375 F.  Beat butter, sugar (both) and vanilla in large bowl with mixer until creamy.  Add eggs; beat well.  Stir together flour, baking soda and salt until well blended.  Add chocolate chips, nuts, nutmet, cinnamon.  Grease cookies sheets, cook for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.

    Simple right?  I thought so.

According to Cunningham's guide (Wicca in the kitchen) Chocolate is for love, Hazelnuts for Wisdom and conscious mind,  Nutmeg for psychic awareness, (he is still doubting a lot of the visions and everyday magic that are aound him) and Cinnamon for love, psychic awareness.

As I mentioned he is still doubting a lot of the magical things around him.  I think it's partly because he doesnt know how to read the signs right, or that he's becoming self concious about magic.  (Doesnt want other people to think that he's crazy.  He's very much a social bee and his friends opinion mean a lot to him.)  But I think that with these enhancing foods that he might just see something or even recall something that happened reciently that will remind him that there is no such things as concidences.  The love elements are to remind him of my support of him and that he can confine in me of these things going on in his life.

We'll see how it goes, I'll keep you all posted.  Any suggestions?  Things you would have done differntly?  Have something that's better?

    Thanks!
